Migraines

Migraine is a multifactorial condition in which neurovascular, digestive, hormonal, and inflammatory mechanisms all interact. It is characterised by central nervous system hyperexcitability, neurovascular inflammation, and impaired serotonin regulation. Food intolerances (gluten, dairy, eggs), intestinal dysbiosis, chronic stress, and hormonal fluctuations are major triggering or aggravating factors. They sustain low-grade inflammation, destabilise the microbiota, and contribute to the frequency and intensity of attacks.

Cellular Nutrition provides particularly effective solutions: it supports neurotransmitter regulation (serotonin, dopamine, melatonin), reduces digestive and neurovascular inflammation, rebalances the microbiota, and corrects deficiencies in magnesium, B vitamins, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants. In doing so, it helps reduce the frequency, intensity, and duration of migraines, while improving quality of life.

To better understand these mechanisms, the assessment explores several interconnected physiological axes:

  • Neuropsychic axis: nervous hyperexcitability, anxiety, chronic stress, serotonin and dopamine fluctuations, non-restorative sleep, persistent fatigue.
  • Hormonal axis: catamenial migraines (peri-menstrual), worsening during perimenopause/menopause, oestrogen/progesterone fluctuations modulating neurovascular reactivity.
  • Gut & microbiota axis: dysbiosis, intestinal hyperpermeability, food intolerances (gluten, dairy, eggs), excessive fermentation and liver overload.
  • Inflammatory & metabolic axis: low-grade inflammation, oxidative stress, post-prandial or alcohol-related hepatic overload.
  • Dietary & lifestyle axis: excess refined sugars, alcohol consumption, food intolerances (gluten, dairy), rich and fatty foods sustaining systemic inflammation and migraine triggers.

This assessment highlights the dominant imbalances driving migraine and identifies the key levers of action. Through nutritional optimisation and targeted micronutritional supplementation, it becomes possible to reduce neurovascular hyperexcitability, calm chronic inflammation, stabilise the microbiota, and strengthen antioxidant defences—thereby achieving a lasting reduction in both the frequency and severity of attacks.
